All jokes aside, this is how Made for a friend started

My day job is a flight attendant and I've been flying for over 12 years. I needed a creative outlet for when I'm on the ground. Christmas 2018, I decided I was going to make something unique but also practical for my closest family and friends. Something sustainable and durable. It was the perfect excuse to learn a new skill, and something that has been on the bucket list for years. I signed up to a pottery class, I've seen people do it, how hard could it be. Well it wasn't easy. I’m no art student, so I had a lot of questions.

It only took a few months, but I left earthenware behind and fell in love with stonewares. The grainy texture of the rougher clay took a lot of trial and error, but I like a challenge. The first time in years, I could finally sit still, quiet, and without a phone in my hand but I needed to find a studio space. 6 months later (and way passed Christmas by that point), and with lots and lots of practice, my friends and family got their cups.  It was so satisfying seeing them being used daily, I had to keep going. I kept making more. Things that I wanted to use myself, practical things like spoon rests and serving platters.

People I knew started following the journey and wanted their own unique pieces. I started receiving more orders and requests, and with that, Made For a Friend was born.
Everything is made in small batches, with each firing even the same glazes could look different. Sizes and shapes can vary slightly. Thats what makes them unique with their own personality. Just like you and me.
